THE POWER OF ONE HOPE

Welcome to April, where the winds bring Lubbock dirt, overturn trucks, and slam car doors on your leg before you can get it in the vehicle. I hope they can blow in some April showers to make it worth the mussed hair and allergies.

A New Theme

With a new month comes a new facet of our theme, The Power of One. Since I will be gone today, our kickoff lesson, “The Power of One Hope,” will be delivered next Sunday. It is a lesson about the hope we share as children of God. This hope exceeds anything the world has to offer. How does the power of his hope impact our lives and those around us?

“God Is for Us.”

The next week, April 20 is Easter Sunday. As many around the world come to celebrate the resurrection of the Christ, we will consider the worth of his resurrection in a lesson called “God Is for Us.” Paul asked the question, “If God is for us, who can be against us?” It was a rhetorical question that did not need an answer. If God is on our side, nothing can withstand us or be against us. Well, God is for us, and he has diligently sought our salvation, even to the point of sacrificing his Son and raising him from the dead. The resurrection proclaims that God is for us and that brings us hope.

Doors of Hope

Finally, on the last Sunday in April we will look at Hosea’s “door of hope.” While we celebrate the Christian’s hope, we cannot neglect the door of hope open to all people. The joy we share can be shared by everyone. But how can the lost enter the door? This will be a good opportunity to invite friends who have not obeyed the gospel since it is a fundamental lesson on how God saves people.

I look forward to these lessons, and hope you make plans to be here each week. Until then, try not get blown away.
