I approached the elders couple a month ago, and they gave me the go ahead to teach the Wednesday night Auditorium class in the month of December and focus on prayer. They also said I could arrange it so that for 24 hours on January 3rd and 4th, someone from Baker Heights was offering up prayers to God. The idea is that we will start the 2025 as congregation lifting up our thoughts, concerns, and gratitude up to our heavenly Father. More details are to come, and I hope that you will consider joining us.
Focus on the Who
Prayer can be intimidating, especially if you have not had much experience praying. That fear can keep us from having the close walk with God we are supposed to. I just recently heard someone explain how they overcame the difficulties and awkwardness they faced when it came to prayer. They said they stop focusing on the how and focused on the Who. You may not know all the right words, how to start, or how to end, but as you know who it is that you are praying to, those problems begin to take care of themselves. It is easier to share your heart when you realize the one you are praying to already knows each part. It is easier to share your problems when you realize that you are talking to the only who can really help. And when you realize that the one you are talking to is the one who loved you so much that he allowed his only son to die so your sins would no longer separate you from him, you know a few awkward words or pauses are not going to separate you either. So let us remember who it is we pray to, and all spend a little more time with Him in prayer. Also consider joining us as a congregation as we strive to start 2025 in a time of prayer.
