On Not Forgetting

Two F-15 fighter planes were escorting a C-130 Hercules, and the F-15 pilots were chatting with the pilot of the C-130 transport to pass the time. Talk came around to the relative merits of their respective aircraft. The fighter pilots contended that their airplanes were better because of their superior speed, maneuverability, weaponry, and so forth, and pointed out the Hercules’ deficiencies in those areas.

After taking this for a while, the C-130 pilot said, “Oh yeah? Well, I can do a few things in this old girl that you’d only dream about.”

Naturally, the fighter pilots challenged him to demonstrate. “Just watch,” came the quick retort. And so, they watched. But all they saw was that C-130 continued to fly straight and level…After several minutes the Hercules pilot came back on the air.

HOW’S THAT?

“There! How was that?”

The fighter pilots replied, “What are you talking about? What did you do?” And the Hercules pilot replied, “Well, I got up, stretched my legs, and got a cup of coffee.

“Similarly, many of us don’t really recognize what God has done in our lives. We have hi-tech toys with great graphics, things that generations before us could only dream about. The simple 2000+ year old story of Jesus comes along, and it feels like a great old C-130 Hercules. We figure it’s old and so what can it do?

WE FORGET

We forget the awesome gift of forgiveness… the amazing grace of our Savior… the promise that He will be with us always, even to the end of the world. We forget how great it is to truly be a Christian and all the blessing therein.

Church let’s not forget… May we always remember that the greatest life in the world is the gift of our Savior… not just on Sundays… but EVERY DAY! Hallelujah!!
