My Name on the Book

The other day we took our youngest daughter to get her first big kid Bible. She was so excited. She found one she loved and found a new case, but what she got really excited about was getting her very own name put on the front. Even though reading is a fairly new thing for her and can only be done with significant help, she spent the whole way home flipping through her new Bible and singing the books of the Bible and Jesus’ 12 disciples. Anybody she ran into that day she had to tell them about her new Bible. She was so happy and excited.

The Book of Life

Our prayer as parents is that she always has excitement and love for God’s word. But even more than that is that her name is written in another book, the Lamb’s Book of Life. As Christians, we should all have love and a passion for God’s word. We should read it, study it, and impress it on our hearts. It’s that word that helps us know for sure that our names are written in that book of life and never blotted out.

John says in 1 John 5:13,

“I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life.”

So, if you don’t have that blessed assurance, let’s dive into God’s word together, study it, and know that we belong to him.
