Hebrews 13:16 states: “And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.” The assistance and benevolence ministry’s main responsibility is to evaluate and respond to benevolent requests for rent, utilities, medicine, gas, etc. from our members. Additionally, this ministry provides financial counseling and helps the unemployed get back on their feet.
Another large part of this ministry is the operation of the BHCC Food Pantry and Community Box. They stock, maintain and dispense food items from the church pantry to members and non-members in accordance with established guidelines. On the first Sunday of the month, the young children of the congregation are invited to be a “Pantry Pal”, where they bring food and supplies to help stock the pantry, teaching them how to care for others less fortunate.
