At Last. Looking Back.
Satanist, Anton Szandor LaVeh, founded the Church of Satan. It is reputed that his last words on his death bed were, “Oh my, oh my, what have I done! There’s something very wrong, there’s something very wrong, there’s something very wrong!”
Voltaire (1694-1778), an atheist, said, “I am abandoned by God and man! I shall go to hell! O Jesus Christ”. David Hume (1711-1776), atheist, said while dying in utter despair, “I am in the flames!”
Sir Thomas Scott, (1808-1878), an atheist, said, “Until this moment I thought there was neither a God nor hell. Now I know and feel that there is both, and I am doomed to perdition by the just judgment of the Almighty.”
At Last. Looking Ahead.
Polycarp, a second-century Christian, was burned at the stake for refusing to pay homage to a Roman emperor. Here are his last words: “Eighty and six years I have served Him, and He has done me no wrong. How then can I blaspheme my King and Savior? You threaten me with a fire that burns for a season, and after a little while is quenched; but you are ignorant of the fire of everlasting punishment that is prepared for the wicked.” His farewell words were:” I bless you, Father, for judging me worthy of this hour, so that in the company of the martyrs I may share the cup of Christ.”
Psalm 14:1: The fool says in his heart, “There is no God“. God is real. Hell is real. Jesus said unless we believe in Him, we will die in our sins (John 8:24). If we belong to Christ, we will be given new life. It’s never too late to confess Jesus as the son of God, turn away from sin, and be baptized for forgiveness of our sins. (Acts 2:38; Romans 6:3-5).
