I Need Your Love!

I have always been enamored with the song by Todd Duncan, Unchained Melody. I’m sure you have too. You surely know some of the words:

Oh, my love, My darling.

I’ve hungered for your touch… A long, lonely time.

And time goes by so slowly… and time can do so much.

Are you still mine? I need your love; God speed your love to me.

Our Love for God

I know it’s a romantic song with a beautiful melody…. But I got to thinking. I’m thinking about our love for God and our love for each other. How much do we truly long for His love and for the love of each other? I know Covid hit us hard and changed how we relate to each other. We appear sometimes to be so private in our feelings and our relationships. I appreciate so much that Sam reminded us that relationships is what Christianity is all about. I know at times, we long for each other and for each other’s touch, even if we refuse to admit it. There is nothing quite as good as a hug…and nothing takes the place of those words “I Love You”, and absolutely nothing takes the place of actually loving others.

“This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you” (Jn.15:12)

It Goes By Swiftly

These days, time really doesn’t seem to go by so slowly, but in reality, it goes by rather swiftly. Time goes by so quickly, and we become so busy – that we seem to put loving others off until a more convenient time. Love always seeks the best good for the other person. Read I Corinthians 13. Love is the greatest! But the truth remains, we need each other’s love. Regardless of our antics and sometimes our despicable words, we still need to love each other.

Remember the beautiful words from the song “The Greatest Command” —

“Love one another, for love is of God. He who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God. For God is love.”

May our Father in Heaven help us to not only love truth, but to love one another as we are commanded. It is the best way.
