Heaven is Worth it All

A little girl asked her slightly older sister why Grandma read her Bible so much. The reply, “I think she is studying for her final exams.” Wiser folk think about heaven sooner rather than later. Life has no guarantees!

PREPARATIONS

You see heaven is a prepared place for a prepared people.

If anyone was more prepared for eternity than Roy Dixon, I don’t know who it would be. I still can’t believe He has gone to be with Jesus. So quick. So shocking. But it’s o.k. because we know that Roy lived his whole life for this.

Roy has claimed the promise Jesus makes to all who believe on Him when He said, “Let not your heart be troubled: you believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.” – John 14:1-3.

A REUNION AT HOME

Just think … Of stepping out of this life and waking up and finding that you’re home! Roy has been received by the Lord! Imagine being reunited with loved ones—parents, grandparents, friends from years past, a spouse, children who died before you!

Heaven will be one grand reunion for the redeemed.

In heaven, we will all receive new bodies.
  • The aches and pains will be gone.
  • Disease and suffering will end.
  • No more cancer.
  • No more Alzheimer’s.
  • Eyes blinded by diabetes will see.
  • All the disabilities and limitations of this decaying, aging, finite body will be gone.
(1 Corinthians 15:42-44)

HAVE YOU EVER CONSIDERED

Have you ever considered the famous Hope Diamond at the Smithsonian? A thick, shatterproof glass wall and an armed guard protect it. The many people that wait in line to see the Hope Diamond express an awe, and a feeling of rapture. Worth is $250,000,000. But this is nothing, this is dirt compared to God.

David remarked when his baby died, “. . .I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me” (II Sam. 12:23). Heaven will be one grand reunion for the redeemed. Jesus promised, “…where I am, there ye may be also” (John 14:3). It will be a homecoming time, and renewing old acquaintances will be exciting. We will meet those whom we have known from the Scriptures, such as Moses, Abraham, and David. Then, it will be worth it all when we see Christ!

I love the words of that hymn, “Heaven will surely be worth it all”.

OFTEN, I’M HINDERED ON MY WAY,
BURDENED SO HEAVY I ALMOST FALL
THEN I HEAR JESUS SWEETLY SAY,
HEAVEN WILL SURELY BE WORTH IT ALL.

HEAVEN WILL SURELY BE WORTH IT ALL,
WORTH ALL THE SORROWS THAT HERE BEFALL
AFTER THIS LIFE WITH ALL ITS STRIFE,
HEAVEN WILL SURELY BE WORTH IT ALL.

And the church said… AMEN!
