Entertainment for Christians

Are you planning a family night at the movie theater in the near future? Is your granddaughter wanting to play a new Xbox game, or your nephew wanting to download a new album that was just released?

Keeping Up with the Entertainment World

Understandably, it’s not a priority for a lot of adults to keep up fully with the current entertainment world. Christians are also well-aware that certain elements of pop culture have a deceptive and destructive influence. Colossians 2:8 says, “See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ.”

There is positive entertainment and truth that we can find out there when we discern with Godly wisdom. Romans 12:2 talks of testing so that you may “discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” It can be a great experience to watch movies or read books with the kids in our lives while practicing discernment together. That’s where this resource from Focus on the Family can come in handy.

A Entertainment Resource with a Biblical Worldview

“Plugged In” is a great source for entertainment reviews from a Biblical worldview. You can check them out at www.pluggedinonline.com. The website covers a variety of media platforms, including movies, television, music, games, books, and YouTube channels. With movies, for example, the reviewer will analyze the film’s positive and spiritual elements. The site will disclose specific crude or profane language, drug/alcohol content, violent content, sexual content, and any other negative elements. Finally, they’ll give a conclusion and content caution rating for these categories: kid, teen, and adult.

I hope even more families can benefit from Plugged In. May all of us enjoy times with our families and protect the notion of “good, clean, fun!”
