Changes

WHEN WE ARE BAPTIZED

When we were baptized into Christ, a great change took place. Some of this change was a direct result of God working on our sin sick souls. God performed an operation on our souls…. He circumcised us. Obviously, it was not a physical circumcision, but a spiritual one…. a circumcision of the heart and soul. When this operation was performed, we were changed in multiple ways.
  • We became members of the family of God.
  • We were taken from the kingdom of darkness and placed in the kingdom of Light.
  • Our attitudes changed from one of fear and despair to one of hope and promise.

CHANGED

Wow! Read Romans 6 about how our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin.

I love the word “CONVERTED.” It’s a word that means “to change” … but it means more than a simple change…. it means to change for the better, an improvement, a change that can be used to benefit others, as well as self.

CONTINUALLY CHANGING

Now to go a bit further, changes are something that we experience continually in our lives. And changes happen in the life of a local congregation. New members, new hymns, new ministries and programs, new births (both physical and spiritual), and yes, even new preachers. Even as we see new blooms on the trees and plants, changes are happening constantly.

SOME THINGS DON’T CHANGE

In the life of the church, among the changes that take place, we must stand true to God’s Word. No changes there. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. (Heb. 13:8) Aren’t you glad?

Changes will continue to take place among us. As we continue to search for that godly man to proclaim God’s Word to us, may we never forget who we are and whose we are. Be supportive and remain true to God and His Word. It’s not about us or traditions…. It’s about glorifying and honoring our Lord Jesus Christ. It’s about growing the kingdom of God in this place. Can I hear a resounding ‘AMEN’?
