Change??

What is our greatest need in life?

Is it to be happy?

We may long for a change in our circumstances, and sometimes that’s what we get. But a changed life is our deepest need. Changed circumstances may make us happier, but a changed life will make us better, for it will make us like Christ.

A changed life?

How do you do that? How does that happen? Change! What comes to mind when you hear the word change? Do you think of the jingle jangle in your pocket? Do you think of the many times your mom or wife has changed the furniture in the house around? Do you think of the many times you had to change outfits because you couldn’t figure out what to wear? Do you think of the changes your child goes through as he or she enters adolescence?

A Necessary Part of Life

No Matter what your perception on change. We must all realize that change is a necessary part of life. Some of us welcome change, others of us despise change. I want to challenge us today to welcome the change God wants to make in each of our lives.

Do you remember the TV show “Family Matters”? It was about the Winslow family and their pesky neighbor, Steve Urkel. Steve is nerdy, clumsy, and doesn’t have too many friends. I think Steve was born to give the Winslows a headache. When he knocks something over or breaks something, he says “Did I do that?” But Steve is smart…. In fact, he built a machine in which he can turn himself into another person. He goes from Steve Urkel to Stephan Urkel. He goes from bumbling idiot-to-smooth, cool, and popular with the ladies. What a change!

Life-changing Encounters

Changing our lives is really not the same. Remember the apostle Paul? Remember his life-changing encounter with Jesus? In Acts 9, For three days he was blind and did not eat or drink anything. God spoke to Ananias, a disciple, in a vision and said for him to go to the house of Judas and ask for a man named Saul. Ananias laid his hands on Saul, restored his sight, and Saul was immediately baptized. He was a changed man! He began preaching the gospel to the lost instead of persecuting Christians. Why the change? It all boils down to one thing – His encounter with Jesus! Jesus changes lives and He can change yours! WE are here to help you meet Jesus! Will you come? Will you seek Him?
