Why are we here?
Today we are gathered together – just as Christians have done every first day of the week since the day of Pentecost. Our purpose is to worship God as He directed in the Scripture.
In doing so we obey the teachings of Jesus and follow the traditions handed down from the apostles. What we do is as ancient as the beginning of the church and as contemporary as the needs of our heart.
The Purpose of Worship
Worship is not performance to excite our emotions or to entertain men. Its purposes are to praise God and edify others. It is expression, not impression.
Worship is not a duty ritual to pacify or manipulate God. It is not something we do for God; it is rather what we do in response to what God has done for us.
“God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth. “ John 4:24
