Mountain Climbing

OUR DEAR BAKER HEIGHTS FAMILY,

As I reflect over the last year and looking at our theme this year, some roads to the top of the mountain look different than others. Last year, as we started our journey, Charles couldn’t take the “altitude” and ended up in serious trouble.

With lots of prayers, he continued the long journey to the top. Along the way, he had many encouraging him to fight and not give up; all of them on their own journey. A few things we learned along the way were that we couldn’t make this journey alone. Without our family, we wouldn’t have made it to some checkpoints.

We will never know all you have done to help, but God knows because he put it into your hearts to pray and to help through encouragements, money, food, and pure friendships. While we may not be at the top of the mountain yet, we have seen God’s handiwork and felt his presence along the climb.

Yes, there were days I didn’t think I could go any further by myself on this journey, but that was my problem. I took my eye off the primary source of comfort, his resource, “the Word,” and I tried to do this by myself. I soon learned that with that attitude I couldn’t and wouldn’t make the next hill or peak.

While we may not be at the top yet, God is still there waiting and showing us his love through our Baker Heights family, and I cannot tell you how much we love and appreciate each one of you.

Please continue praying for our climb. It is ongoing. We know with you and God on our side this too shall pass and along the way our faith will get stronger. One day, we will all be at the top of our mountain and bask in the presence of God as we hear those words, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.”
