Keep Moving Forward

Some of my favorite quotes come from Albert Einstein. He spent his whole life looking for answers – not just in the world of science, but also in life and spirituality. I am not sure if he ever found all the answers he was looking for, but one quote that has always stuck with me is some advice he gave to his son in a letter. “Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving.”

Stop Moving Forward

This advice continues to ring true, especially when you find yourself in painful or trying circumstances. When you stop moving forward, you stumble or fall over. In 2 Kings 19, we read about a time when Elijah was ready to give up and just stop going. Everywhere he turned someone was trying to kill him, and it seemed like no one was faithful to the Lord anymore. In verse 4 he says, “I have had enough, LORD, Take my life; I am no better than my ancestors.” Elijah wanted to stop moving forward, but God told him to get up and eat – basically keep moving forward. God sent him on a journey and revealed His plans so that Elijah kept being a servant and prophet of the Lord.

Don’t Lose Your Balance

There may be times in your life when you may feel lost and alone. Maybe things aren’t going your way, or you have made so many mistakes that you don’t think you will ever find your way out. In those times remember that we must keep moving forward. It is when we stop that we lose our balance. Do as God told Elijah, “Get up and eat.” God has a journey in store for you and eventually he will fill you in on all the details of his plan.
