I know I have said this previously, but that place in Florida which claims to be “The Happiest Place on Earth” -well it is not. At least not for me. For me the happiest place on earth is right here at Baker Heights. Yes, the excitement of thriller rides and seeing beloved childhood characters may bring you a momentary smile but once you leave that place the smile quickly fades away unlike the joy you experience here being among your brothers and sisters in Christ.
BEING TOGETHER
Acts 2:44 states: …”and all who believed were together and had all things in common.”
Hebrews 3:13 “But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called ‘today,’ that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.”
Wow! Isn’t it easy to go out into the world and see what is going on or listen to the news and have our hearts hardened? That is why it is so important for us to meet together. To exhort one another, to sing praises to Him, to hear and study His word, to pray for one another, most importantly to commune with Him.
LOOKING BACK
Twenty years ago, when we first came to Baker Heights, we were using the moto “the Friendliest Church in Abilene.” Somewhere along the way we dropped that, but I still believe it is true. I do not think there is anyone, from any walk of life, who enters through the doors of BHCC that is not made to feel welcome and is not greeted by less than a handful of people. So yes, to me the happiest place on earth is being here with you, one of the most loving and caring congregations I have ever witnessed. If anyone wants to know this kind of joy, come visit us. Come find out about the Lord who can give you this joy that can be found in Him and in those who are called by Him.
